We are moving from the Netherlands to Rayong Thailand, who can tell us what is a good place to live and where we can meet up with other expats? What is a good place for expats to live in Rayong Thailand?
Rayong is a horrible place to live due to severe pollution. Check the news about the current battle over the Map Ta Phut industrial area and the thousands of locals who have developed normally rare cancers after being exposed to the toxic pollution in the area. For your health choose another location. What is a good place for expats to live in Rayong Thailand?
My first thought is why Rayong? Unless you are going there for a job.
If you are going to Rayong because of job this place does have some good points. The cost of living is cheap, easy access to the beaches, you could even afford to have a maid cleaning your place probably. But if this is for a "retirement move" perhaps you might find another area with greater access to hospitals, malls, movie theaters and more variety in restaurants and supermarkets. I think Jomtien/Pattaya Beach would be a better choice if you are not working. But if it is a job, with a good income coming in you could do a lot worse!
Any place you live at is what you make of it!
Here is a good forum for expats in Thailand. The ThaiVisa forum.

Teak Door forum might have something you can use.

Have you visited Thailand before? I think you will find more expats in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Pattaya.
Good luck. What is a good place for expats to live in Rayong Thailand?
Well, I assume you are moving because of a job - the shore near the downtown part of the city is kind of attractive and the refineries are sort of in the distance, kind of surreal - the area near the big pirate and closer to town has a nice feel to it -
Surely, you know of the very high incidence of cancer in the Rayong area?
I have a friend who lives maybe 20 minutes drive north of Rayong - he has a few townhouses that he has refurbished, up on a cliff, overlooking the Gulf of Siam - lovely view, lovely breeze - not sure if he has any available or how much but you can email me if you want me to contact him..
