Personal experience at a city council meeting?

I was wondering if you people could give me some insight into your personal experiences of attending a city council meeting whereever you live? I am writing a project regarding city council meetings and the power differentials that exist, and I was wondering if I could get some second insights beside my own as to how you felt while at the meeting, if you felt comfortable, if you felt like you had the opportunity to have your voice heard. Any insight you would offer would be helpful. Thank you.Personal experience at a city council meeting?
I went to a planning meeting at my local council office where I was making an objection about my neighbours new extension. I personally did not feel intimidated or out of my depth. The council sent me advisory notes before the meeting and asked me if I wished to to address the councillors and council officers (which I did). I did not get all my own way on the matter but there were compromises made which I felt were good for me. Y es the council managed the affair very professionally and I and my neighbour are still friends. Not a bad outcome aye.
