How would I go about meeting other gay/lesbian families with children?

I live in a suburb of Chicago, and have two kids (11 and 1). I would like to meet other gay and lesbian parents and their children in our area. How would I go about meeting these people? I know there have to be others in our area... How did you meet other families in your area?How would I go about meeting other gay/lesbian families with children?
Does Chicago have a local LGBT center? That is what I believe would be a good place to start. There are some online resources for LGBT but I think your talking about a more physical approach. But I'm sure there are some programs at the centers for parents.

I would check out a website called meetup.com



When I moved to another state, I needed to make new friends and that was the best site. You can even start your own group, helping other people with the same questions have a place to meet.



I also recommend a LGBT center. Google it and see if there is one in the area.

Try your local PFLAG organisation. They may refer to you to groups which help gay parents.
The internet! Also try to be more active in the LGBT community and they'll trickle your way.
