If it were a rifle. But not for handguns. Handguns can only be bought in the state you live in, even private sales. Othewise you MUST go through a dealer. I'm not sure of the exaxct process but I beleive the seller will have to ship it to an FFL in your area.

As long as the proper paper work is filled out and you wait the few days for a background check here in Illinois, you'll be golden.

As has been stated, you'll have to have the seller transfer it through a FFL dealer. That's Federal law.
