I'm 27 years old, single and no kids. I may be moving to San Diego for work as a drug rep, so I won't have any co-workers and I don't have any friends there yet. Where's a good area to live to meet other young professionals? What areas in San Diego should I look to live?
Pacific Beach
Next to La Jolla, it's the best place to live in the city of SD.
University City is La Jolla North
Avoid Ocean Beach. It's where the burnouts, junkies and low life's hang.
Mission Beach is where the seasonal summer party crowd live.
Mission Valley is Yuppified.
Gaslamp/Downtown is a nice place to go to get drunk but I wouldn't live there.
Hillcrest is the center of the gay community.
North Park is high crime.
Mira Mesa and Clairemont is really suburbia
I would stay downtown. I really like the Gaslamp area and they have recently done a nice job with new condos/apts. It's a nice lively area. What areas in San Diego should I look to live?
Well it depends on your income. If you have to money, go to the city of SD. Encinitas has a lot of med opportunities and doctors, and is somewhat affordable. I would suggest staying near the beach, Pb, mission beach, del mar, la jolla. if you want to be closer to Los angeles, choose somewhere like Oceanside or Fallbrook, they are reasonabley inexpensive.
I dont live in San Diego, but I'm moving there as well in the next couple of weeks. Like you, I dont know anyone, but I've been looking at subleting apartments for a few months so that I have a place to live but dont have to sign a lease with a crazy person for a year. There are also some corporate housing you can get on the cheap that are furnished for around $800 a month for a studio. Hope this helps! What areas in San Diego should I look to live?
many people just moving to San Diego get an apartment in the Mission / Fashion Valley area for the 1st year as they get to know the city.
Of course if you can afford to live at the beach..
La Jolla
Del Mar
Mission and Pacific Beach
Solana Beach, Cardiff, Encinitas, Leucadia, Carlsbad.
Areas I like..
South Park, Bankers Hill, Mission Hills, Hillcrest, Little Italy,
North Park (south of University Ave.), Downtown-Gaslamp-East Village.
all these area are full of young educated proffessionals.
good rules of thumb..
Stay North of the 94 Freeway
and West of the 5 and 805 Freeways
