I live in the UK and will be meeting this doctor through the NHS.What can I expect? I 'm not looking personal details just the process as I have never done it before.ThanksI have mild depression and will be meeting a psychiatrist.Whats it like?
They usually want to know your history of where you went to school, and try to track your mood through major changes/upheavals in your life. Mine wanted to stop and talk about things from my past with regard to why I did them, and focused on some things I did when I was a teen which I thought was odd. However I didn't go in for chronic mood problems. I actually went in to get some tranquilizers so I could sleep but it didn't go to plan because he diagnosed a mood disorder.I have mild depression and will be meeting a psychiatrist.Whats it like?
You'll just be asked questions and tests may be run.I have mild depression and will be meeting a psychiatrist.Whats it like?
Well I can only go by what I know from here in the states.

A psychiatrist needs to ask you alot of questions to try and fully understand what is going on.

He/she will ask about your appetite, sleep habits, alcohol/drug use, concentration level, feelings of sadness or suicidality, anxiety, etc

he may ask about your family history--if anyone had depression, etc. How your home life is. How you are doing in school. How your personal life is. Things that you are concerned about, etc.

And you can ask questions too!
