El Paso a big airport? hmm.....compared to, what, Waco?

Anyway....the good news is....you *can* get gate passes, per TSA website

http://www.tsa.dhs.gov/travelers/airtrav鈥?/a>

Military Family Member Gate Passes

Family members who want to accompany a military service member being deployed to the boarding gate or greet them returning from deployment at the arrival gate may receive passes to enter the secure area of the airport.

Interested military family members should contact their air carrier representative at the departure/arrival airport for proper local procedures.
A "gate pass" or "security" pass which is issued by the airlines-- at their sole discretion-- will allow a non-ticketed, non-traveling person to pass thru the security check point.

However, they are normally restricted to those individuals and cases with demonstrated need.. This is normally to escort a handicapped passenger or other special needs situations.. Rarely will a "celebratory" event qualify for such pass..

You need to contact the airline- at the airport- and inquire.. The airline has the sole discretion in the issuing of passes..

If you do get one issued, remember that you will have to pass thru and meet the same security requirements as a traveling passenger, so don't bring liquids or other materials which are prohibited by regulation. A pass is good only on the day of issue and for one entry only. You will need a government ID to show the airline as well as the TSA as you pass thru.Meeting my husband at the gate when he comes home on r and r?
I would say yes. I know DFW and Hartsfield in atlanta both have like there own concourse but you still have to get the special visitors pass. and they let you up too it. Being as your near a military base im sure you wouldnt be the first or only one there to meet them anyways.

So had to come back and see what other types of responses ya got. But ya dont listen to those 3 below mine. Ive made the trip a total of 3 times now and thats 6 times for leave counting coming and going. Like I said ATL and DAL have there own terminal so thats not a issue, I know when I flew in to nashville on one of them they gave my family the pass. And all this was after 9/11 of course. Just call the airport Customer service and they will help you. El Paso airport cant be much bigger then Killeens and Killeens will let you go right up to the gate no problems
You would have to ask for a Gate Pass at the desk, but they do not give many of them out - usually only for those that need to assist elderly and handicapped as well as minors to the gate.

You could ask for one, but don't expect anything.Meeting my husband at the gate when he comes home on r and r?
i don't know if you can do that anymore because of 9/11 ...pretty much the only way that you can get passed security and you are not flying, is if you are walking an unaccompanied minor to the gate, helping an elderly person
Yes, thye do typically offer gate passes to military families wanting to go to the boarding gate or meet at the arrival gate. You need to see the representative at the airline counter of the airline on which he's flying.
its doubtful but you could try -here is one way is go buy a refundable plane ticket

then you will be able to get the gate -meet your hubby and then get your ticket refunded
