Why have you failed to give pensioners a decent pension rise in order that we live above the poverty line?

Politicians have received a 6.7% pay rise, yet we pensioners have, as has become the norm received nothing whatsoever, not even a mention in any policy speeches or electoral campaign speeches. It's as though it is hoped, by federal government that we will gracefully fade away. I'm asking that you employ your powers of understanding and compassion and give pensioners a dignified and substantial increase in order for us to meet the escalating costs of living we are inundated with.Why have you failed to give pensioners a decent pension rise in order that we live above the poverty line?
Wow, Doctor Slernon sure has no compassion for a Doctor. That being said, I'd also like to remind Doctor Slernon that the pensioner asking the question DID ALSO earn a paycheck which qualified him/her/it to get the pension AND support the current pensioners during his/her/its time of employment. What goes around comes around. Having said that, Social Security HAS made cost of living increases to keep people above the poverty level. What isn't going up at nearly the same rate as the escalating costs of living are the wages of middle and lower economic classes who are struggling to pay the taxes that give you your Social Security check now. Obviously that would involve another tax increase to give you a larger pension, and that would be taxing a large group of people struggling to make it paycheck to paycheck already. I'm sorry, but I have to agree--you will have to learn to make it on what you have coming in, just like the rest of us.
I agree with you after all your contribution to make the country what it become you should be rewarded same as polly does. Rental cost rise, food rise, utilities but not they old diggers pension. They're too busy competing and agreeing what the other says. Because the sitting members of parliment are not, and will never be pensioners, at the lower scale of society , so why bother about the less fortunate? [well at election time better give em $500.00 to shut em up] This government led by Howard will go down in history as the worst abuser of our nation, as our overseas debt is now twice the amount when he was elected.So if one can get into the Liberal party all will be well.Too few pensioners are liberals.Why have you failed to give pensioners a decent pension rise in order that we live above the poverty line?
Sorry old folk but you're a drag on everyone expecting us to support you for merely existing. Remember those days when you earned a paycheck? Too bad you didn't put any of it anyway for retirement. How about your family couldn't they support you? Instead of expecting the other of citizens to support you for making to old age figure something out or drop dead.
