Can you ship live animals in the mail?

Can you send live animals (3 ferrets) through Fed Ex or Ups or some other mail transport service? Or can you ship them on a plane and is it expensive? I am giving them to a friend in another state but driving distance one way just meeting in the middle is about a 11 hour drive. Can you ship live animals in the mail?
Um, ferrets need constant access to food and water. They must eat and drink every 3-4 hours. That means they poop about as often, too. Unless you can find a flight crew or postal crew willing to feed, water, and clean up after your ferrets (you won't) I wouldn't do this, at all. Find a better way to get them to your friend.

EDIT: Ask rescues or shelters why shipping is bad. It's a cruel thing to do. Plus, it is expensive. Can you ship live animals in the mail?
UPS frequently delivers live chicks to farms all over the US, but there's a big difference. As soon as a chick is born, it has enough food and water reserves built up to last it 2-3 days, so they ship usually without any problem. There are tons of people who raise puppies and ship them out all over the sates but they go by plane. No one goes with them....they are simply put in the cargo hold and delivered to their destination airport, where your friend would pick them up. If I were you, I would call both UPS and your local airport and ask them directly. They have restrictions on what type of travel crate you can use, and MAY require documentation proving that ferrets are legal to own in the state to which they are flying to. Since meeting in the middle would be an 11 hour drive, I can only asume that means the ferrets have to endure TWO 11-hours trips, or a total of 22 hours in a box. I doubt UPS or FedEx will be of much help but it cant hurt to ask.Can you ship live animals in the mail?
Yes, animals can be transported by plane and your friend can pick them up at the airport. This is how I'm getting my parrot.

They will need to be in an approved transport carrier or box and depending on how long the trip will be - will also need food and water.

It can be expensive, you will need to ask them how much it costs because it varies.
Do you mean like in a box for 11 hours!

Don't listen to what I say but isn't that weird having them in a box for that long!

I have never shipped animals before so I don't know what i'm saying!

LOL!
