Have some savings to fall back on - find a someone who will befriend you and help you get settled and work your way through German beaurocracy - as you wuld help a German through our British beaurocracy
Do some planning - not too much or you might get put off - but some to avoid having too many surprises and help your chances of success.

Most important of all you must be able to beat the Brits to the deck chairs by the swimming pools each morning then your almost there,and of course you must be able to do a proper days work as we are I'm sure you'll agree a little workshy in the UK
