Where is the best and safe place to live in Toronto for a student with no vehicle?

I have a job offer in Missassauga and need to find an affordable area to live but have no idea where to look. I am a US resident so safety is also an issue. Adaptability is not a problem, I can live in any neighborhood as long as it meets these criterions. Some place hopeful close to some sort of transportation. Thanks a million.Where is the best and safe place to live in Toronto for a student with no vehicle?
somewhere out on the outskirts of the ttc line....don't know much about mississauga but i imagine you could get a cheap apartment near the subway out there. safety's like any other city. There's going to be trouble all over but on the whole it's pretty good
I will suggest find some thing Near Sqare one in Missisauga.

its a Hub of Missisauga transit.

U can find transport Within Missisaga and to Islington Subway , from where u can move in Toronto easily

u didnot mention where u r studying ?? and your working Hours in Missisauga. as they have a very Limited service in night check the Transit map and timings as well before finilasing the lease agremenet

best of luckWhere is the best and safe place to live in Toronto for a student with no vehicle?
try www.viewit.ca to see pics of rentals. you can also go to www.remax.ca and see maps of the neighbourhood.

Do not live outside of mississauga as the transit systems for Toronto are separate from Mississauga, and it is impossible to connect afterhours. When you find a place you like check it out in relation to your work http://www.mississauga.ca/portal/residents/publictransit and call mississauga transit and ask them how many connections you have to make and how frequent the buses run on your route to work. Good Luck!
If your looking for quiet, and safe, most areas of the city are a good choice, but if your working in Mississauga, and want to live in a reasonably good area, near the main transportation links, Etobicoke is a good choice, around the Islington and Bloor area, there are plenty of rental units, the subway into and around Toronto, plus the link to Mississauga Transit is in the same subway terminal, you can go to most areas or get to a transfer point, I used to take the bus from there to Dixie and ride it north to around the 401 to work.

Prices there are pretty much the same as downtown, there is a strip mall for groceries and other things, a nice area for night life along Bloor, east of Islington and your just minutes from downtown to get your fill of the city.Where is the best and safe place to live in Toronto for a student with no vehicle?
Okay, so if you're working in Mississauga, living in Toronto would put you at up to a 2 hour commute on transport each way. You should look at living in Etobicoke area around the subway (Islington or Kipling stops).

Around Square One shopping centre would be a good location with lots of options for bus lines.

Oh... and if you're an American, concerned about safety, just don't tell anyone you're American ;o) Just kidding, funny you should say that - I'd be petrified to live in the States with the high crime rates in the urban areas. Canada is so safe!
