Where is the best place for an energetic 23 year old American single male to work and live for 6 months?

I'm looking to go abroad or at least out of California for 6-12 months and work and live. I don't mind working a low paying job, just as long as I can afford my own place. I am very social and I love meeting fun/laid back people. The beach is ideal.Where is the best place for an energetic 23 year old American single male to work and live for 6 months?
Providence, RI

you will be with plenty of your kind, it is like the San Francisco of the East Coast.
Austin TX is a great place to goWhere is the best place for an energetic 23 year old American single male to work and live for 6 months?
It's hard to answer your question without first knowing what field you work in.

A lot of countries in Africa and South America welcome those who wish to come over and work with their non-profit organizations.

If you're ineterested in making a difference, I recommend joining the peace corp.

the D.C. metropolitan area!! i live about 20 miles from D.C. and i love it...its expensive but you can do it. you can get a roommate and its straight!! it has a great night life to meet new people and great job opportunities. It is def a change from cali!!
Hawaii, if you have some money saved up.

Job opportunities are good there, but the pay is very low, and

living expensiss is very high, and you probably need to have room-mate. But, if you like beach and having fun, Hawaii is one place you can be...
Go to Australia ... No better place on the planet.. Good Money.. Brill Life and all the beaches in the world
To be honest, you sound more like you want to PARTY or meet GIRLS than get a job and work!!
Baddeck, Nova Scotia-you won't be sorry!
You haven't mentioned if you speak any additional languages and that would be helpful in order to answer you fully. While it is true that many people are fluent in English, if you wish to go abroad, your chances of landing a decent paying job would be better if you spoke their language as well. Of course there is always Ireland, Scotland, Wales and anywhere in the U.K. or their possessions in the islands where English is the language and you'd have much to choose from in those beautiful areas by the seas or oceans.

California is great too and I think I would probably pick San Diego or San Francisco to work and live. There are always jobs available there since there is a continuous flow of tourists in both places. Good luck and have fun wherever it leads you!
It really depends on what you want to do. Australia is pretty good for a laid back working holiday type jobbie, there are heaps of backpackers around the beach area (Bondi etc.).
BY FAR...Thailand! Energetic would lead you more to the south. Phang Nga and Phuket would be the places i would recomend. Been there and lived their for two months.... people are extremly laid back, you can work a variety of jobs, and there is plenty to do. Very nice and hot too....
